How to make your home decor more luxurious

If you're fond of a luxurious aesthetic on a modest budget, you might wonder how to make your house look expensive - for less. Luckily, there are plenty of decorating tips you can use to enhance your interior design without breaking the bank.

Maximize space & light

When you think “expensive,” you might also think “large.” However, you don't need a big house to make the space feel luxurious. Instead, maximize the space you have by using sleek mirrors in your decorating. Mirrors give the illusion of more space and reflect light to enhance the ambiance of your living room, dining room or entryway.

Pick furniture with character

In a world of mass-produced furniture, unique pieces will stand out and seem more luxurious. Choose furniture with interesting shapes and unexpected textures to add interest and depth to any room. Consider using one bold vintage furniture piece as a focal point for the space.

When arranging furniture on wood floors, resist the urge to pick furniture made with the same type of wood. This can sometimes make the room feel flat. A combination of wood tones and a chic area rug will create a sophisticated and polished style.

Keep wires out of view

We live in an age where technology is a part of our everyday lives - and home decor. Unfortunately, all the cords and wires from your electronic devices and appliances can cause clutter and detract from other details of your living space. Try cable management systems to organize and hide the clutter, and you'll notice a huge difference.

Along with these tips, don't forget to include luxurious accents like throw pillows, fresh flowers, large-scale art and a lavish light fixture. Even a fresh coat of paint and a neutral color scheme can make your home more like a luxury hotel of your very own.
